Steering Box Support by Defiant

56 percent of todays late model Dodge trucks have suspension modifications including tire and wheel upgrades. With the added leverage applied to the trucks steering components, the steering box takes a serious beating. Defiants Steering Box Support provides added protection to the sector shaft of the steering box and prevents premature wear to the steering boxes interior components. One piece consrutction. Tucks up beatifully, above the factory sway bar for an almost invisable install.

  The parts arrive like this.

This is a series of pictures with little or no text. Basically four bolts are removed that attach the stabilizer bar to the frame. BE VERY CAREFULL as it will pivot down when you remove the last bolt and hit you hard... could cause serious injury.

No jack needed.

Remove the big nut off of the steering sector shaft (pitman arm nut).

Install the new pivot nut onto the sector shaft using the original lockwasher and torque.

Apply antisieze compound to the pivot nut shaft for. We don't want this short shaft siezing up on the pillow block inner diameter.

Simply bolt it up, torque it up and it's done. Takes about 15 minutes if you did it before.

There are two set screws in the pillow block that need to be removed and blue locktited. Re-install just snug. They keep the inner bearing race locked to the pivot bolt shaft so it turns the inner bearing.
